I’ve always loved Fujifilm cameras as objects, partly because they have a sense of solidity and durability that reminds me of pre-90s cameras. I kept the X-Pro and two of my Fujicrons when I sold off my Fujifilm gear because I knew I’d want to take it out now and then just for the pleasure of shooting with a Fujifilm body and lens. Probably not the most rational response in the world, but it bums me out that an eight-year-old camera that is othewise so durably built and so capable of making enduring images has that cheapening shortcut inside. I found a local shop that does microsoldering, and I’m hoping they can provide a less expensive out. I’m surprised to have this feeling about that option that’s akin to how I’d feel if I had to replace a busted window crank in a vintage Mercedes with a drop-shipped 3D-printed part. Like, yeah it’ll work … I’ll just know it’s in there. — toot

I was playing a lot of No Man’s Sky until I suddenly realized I was actually playing a lot of Animal Crossing, except more tedious, so I’m downloading the Animal Crossing Switch 2 update and putting down my mining laser. — toot

“Had to lay ’er down” machismo is endemic to motorcycle culture, so there’s a fundamental fatalism built into the scene, but I thought I’d noticed more deaths this year. Oregon lane splitters are idiots tho. — toot

That bittersweet moment where you tell your 22-year-old child about a professional accomplishment or personal achievement, then realize their admiration also includes a very minor adjustment to their deeply held belief that you’ve always been an idiot. — toot

Worked in Yellowstone and saw a few tourons chased inside by bison. One coworker claimed to have seen one roll a car. — toot
